Frequently Asked Questions
Over the past year, we have had many, many discussions where it became clear that it was time to shift our focus and efforts towards Gold In September (G9). This was an emotional decision, but it feels right as G9 is truly the ultimate manifestation of the I Back Jack Foundation, which was never meant to just be about our beloved Jack.
Jack truly started a movement of hope, and, as a result, G9 is ultimately the house that Jack inspired, Annie envisioned, John designed, and Sarah is determined to build. The goals are the same, but the scope and breadth are much bigger, wider, and far-reaching. Jack will continue to infuse his energy into the G9 efforts, backing research, inspiring hope, and defeating cancer; only now these goals will be applied to help every child, everywhere with all types of childhood cancer, until cures for cancer are found.
We’ve done our best to provide answers to the questions we think you will have about this transition. If you can’t find your answer below, please contact us and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

We are beyond grateful for all the unwavering support for the mission of the I Back Jack Foundation. Over the past 10 years, with the help of many, we have raised over $1.25 million in support of Neuroblastoma research and treatments. Now, we ask everyone to keep their hearts open and hope alive as we continue to "back Jack" by supporting G9. Together, we must color the world gold so very child, everywhere will survivor cancer. Q. If I make a donation to the I Back Jack Foundation, where will the money go?
As of July 1, 2016, the I Back Jack Foundation will begin the sunsetting process of closing operations as a separate Foundation and begin the transition to fully support Gold In September (G9). Donate directly to G9 here.
G9 is a childhood cancer non-profit dedicated to increasing funding for childhood cancer research and initiatives by growing awareness that inspires action to help every child, everywhere. G9 directly funds Early Phase Trials (at the 27 G9 Centers of Excellence), bringing the newest, most promising treatments to kids faster, as well as the Children's Onocology Group's Project:EveryChild (a national tissuebank repository). Utilizing a noble model of turning the world gold to raise awareness and meet the mission, G9 directly benefits the entire childhood cancer community with gold alliance, resulting in increased funding and support for all childhood cancer initiatives.
Q. Will the I Back Jack Foundation site and social channels be removed from the web?
No, the plan is to keep the I Back Jack Foundation website and social channels live for the next year. Jack truly started a movement of hope, and we want all those who followed, and continue to follow, to have a chance to transition. Plus, we like the idea of Jack's energy still living online.
Q. I am currently signed up for the I Back Jack Foundation email newsletter, will I still get updates via email about I Back Jack or Gold In September?

Q. Why is it called Gold In September?
The concept for the G9 was created by Annie Bartosz (only 11-years-old at the time) who saw the nation turn pink in October for Breast Cancer and became determined to turn the world GOLD IN SEPTEMBER for kids battling cancer. Traveling around the country for various treatments with her twin brother Jack, who was battling pediatric cancer, Annie was eyewitness to the critical need for advancement in research and treatments. Annie said, “When a child is diagnosed with cancer it affects the family and the community. It's devastating. My goal is to get everyone thinking about and wearing gold in September so we can bring an end to childhood cancer.”
G9 stands for "Gold in September". Gold is the national color for pediatric cancer and September is the recognized National Childhood Cancer Awareness month; together they make G9.
Thank you for "backing Jack" by supporting the G9 mission and inspiring the world to GROW GOLD for childhood cancer.
